A type of therapy that exceeds the traditional "talk therapy" approach which speaks to the conscious mind. Rather, Hypnotherapy uses a relaxing guided visualization to access the place of our brain that holds our belief system: the subconscious mind. (we are in this state 90-95% of the day already anyway)
You know the feeling when you're engrossed in a hobby, work, good conversation or a deep meditative state? When time flies by and you find yourself hyper-focussed? Its like that, except you're cozy with a blanket and usually in a lying down or reclined position (whatever feels good for you).
There are many misconceptions about hypnosis and that the client is not in control of themselves. No I can't make you do something you don't want to do. No I won't make you cluck like a chicken. This is completely false. You are always in control and in fact, if you don't feel safe in the process then you simply won't respond to the suggestions.
You bet. Anyone can be hypnotized. If you feel comfortable with the Hypnotherapist and you actually WANT to change the behaviour, it will be successful.
Depending how deep you go into hypnosis, you may remember everything completely or you may remember only some parts. This is normal, and not a bad thing at all.
Every person is different. Most people see the benefits after only ONE session, however, most people also need 3-6 sessions to feel complete about their original concern.
